INJ chairman Derek Fitzgerald announced some details about this year's Parade: "Ireland and Japan are both proud of their cultural heritage. The Parade will feature a variety of groups and ideas marking the traditions of Ireland as well as that of Japan. There will be traditional Irish dancers and musicians and local Japanese 'matsuri' groups. There are exciting bands and cheerleader groups lined up too. Of course, the parade will start off with an appearance by Saint Patrick himself and our Irish leprechauns, who may lead you to a pot of gold if you are lucky enough to catch one".

Yoji Tomiyama, vice chairman of INJ said: "This is the 14th year of the Parade in Tokyo. We have established a presence in Japan now, as other well-known parades have, from New York to Sydney. It is a great opportunity for cultural exchange and to share celebrations with the foreign community here."
